Commando by Manticore Software

Last Updated: 16/08/2026

Commando is a product of Manticore Software. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your information. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with Commando.

1. Information Collection and Use

Commando does not require a Manticore account. We do not operate analytics or advertising in the app.

The app stores the following on your Mac (and, if you opt in, in your iCloud):

  • Command sets and preferences

  • Optional SSH passwords for command sets (macOS Keychain on your device)

  • Generated SSH keys in your user SSH directory (~/.ssh/commando_ed25519)

  • Security-scoped bookmarks for your chosen terminal app and, if you use Warp, your Warp config folder

  • Non-App Store builds: an encrypted registration file on your Mac (name, email, and license key used to unlock the app)

Passwords entered during SSH key setup are handled by SSH in your terminal. Commando does not receive or store those passwords.

Manticore Software does not collect command sets, SSH credentials, or Keychain data.

2. Optional iCloud Sync

If you enable Sync via iCloud in Settings, command sets are stored in iCloud Documents under your Apple ID so they can update across your Macs. That data stays in your iCloud account. Manticore Software does not receive, read, or host those files.

You can turn this off at any time. Existing copies on each Mac remain local.

3. Network Use

Commando may connect to the internet to:

  • Check for app updates from manticore.nz. This request does not include your command sets, passwords, or license details.

  • Non-App Store builds only: License validation on launch. This does not include your name, email, command sets, or the full key. Mac App Store builds do not perform this check.

If you run command sets that connect to remote servers (for example via SSH), those connections are made by your terminal and shell, not by Manticore Software. We do not receive the contents of those sessions.

4. Data Storage and Security

Command sets and settings remain on your device unless you enable iCloud sync, in which case they are also stored in your iCloud account under Apple’s terms. SSH passwords, when saved, are handled by macOS Keychain. Manticore Software does not have access to your Keychain, your iCloud account, or your stored credentials.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

Manticore Software does not share, sell, rent, or disclose personal information to third parties. We do not sell your data.

Apple processes iCloud data under Apple’s privacy policy when you use iCloud sync.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Manticore Software may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on our website. Please review this page periodically.
